As part of the Fashion Undressed festival, Style Like U were invited to be residents at the Southbank Centre to interview for their thought provoking series of video portraits, What’s Underneath.

The sessions were an open call to anyone who was ready to open up and tell the world how they came to be who they are today.

Participants spoke of their frustrations, histories, hopes and desires which co-founders Elisa Goodkind and Lily Mandelbaum said was a transformational experience for the women who took part and everyone who watched and supported in the studio.

"We had always thought that for somebody to feel really comfortable in the interview it needed to be intimate and not many people there," Elisa Goodkind, co-founder of StyleLikeU told Konbini. "So we were a little bit skeptical about doing it in a public space but it was really moving to see people really wanting to do it. And if they weren’t able to do it, they gathered in a crowd and the crowd was totally silent, really supportive and were just as happy to be observing. It was amazing and didn’t detract at all from the stories and from what came out of it."

The six film series aired on Konbini.
